TRAVELLERS are said to have used bolt cutters to force their way onto vacant land on Severalls Business Park.
Two caravans have this afternoon set up on land off Wyncolls Road.
The site, which appears to be a former Polestar building, has a 'strictly no admittance' sign at the front and each gate appears to be closed.
Eyewitness Lewis Barber saw the alleged trespassing unfold shortly before 1pm outside the warehouse, which is currently to let.
He said: "I was behind them, I was driving through Severalls and they stopped, did a u-turn and went to the gate.
"They got out these absolutely huge bolt cutters and snapped through whatever was holding the gates shut and drove on in."
He added: "There are only two caravans there but there will be fears that will lead to more.
"Apparently there was a crowd at Asda yesterday so we are wondering if there is a connection."
Mr Barber, A Conservative Colchester councillor, has alerted the police but is yet to hear from officers.
Essex Police was contacted for comment.
