A DENTAL surgery which suffered a burst water main will be dealing with the aftermath for “many months” after the building was left soaked in water.

Staff have stressed they are working extremely hard to try and get back to normal as quickly as possible after the broken pipe destroyed equipment and patient records.

It is thought the pipe at Burnham Dental Practice, High Street, broke after a sudden increase in temperatures following the recent period of wintry weather.

Practice manager Lauren Adams said: “Our builders have worked morning and night to get the services back, however, there have been a lot of records which have been soaked with water and we are trying to recover those by drying them one at a time with a hairdryer which seems to be working.

“We are working around the clock to get things up and running and to find the relevant qualified people to sort out the painting, decorating, new flooring and new machinery like computers.

“The building was so soaked with water.

“It will take many months with large heating bills to soak the water out.

“Our patients have been wonderful and so understanding and given us so much support.

“And staff have manoeuvred their home lives to accommodate seeing patients in the evenings when the work men are not here.

“Some of them have even helped during the night.”
