INTERNATIONALLY renowned singer Russell Watson will be performing in Colchester, it has been confirmed.

Watson, the UK's best selling classical crossover artist, comes to Charter Hall on Thursday October 4.

Tickets for his new show, Canzoni d'Amore, go on sale on Tuesday March 20 at 10am.

Watson performed a series of sell out shows in 2015-16.

To date Watson's achievements have included his debut album The Voice, which held simultaneous number one slots in the US and UK (a world first), spending a record breaking 52 weeks at number one in the UK.

Annie Feltham, the council's portfolio holder for Commercial Services, said: "I am delighted that such a popular classical artist will be performing in Colchester.

"This really demonstrates both the variety and quality of acts that Charter Hall can accommodate."

Having sold more than 7 million albums worldwide, Watson is firmly established as the UK's best-selling classical crossover artist of all time.

To date, his career has included performances for Her Majesty The Queen, The Pope and three US Presidents.
