PUNTERS have raised £4,500 for the Cancer Centre Campaign at an exciting evening of racing from the comfort of Playgolf in Colchester.
Old horse races were shown on a big screen and fundraisers placed their bets on the runners and riders to raise cash for the £3.25 million which is being built at Colchester General Hospital.
Christine Beedle, one of the organisers, said: “There was real feeling of people wanting to raise money for the centre.
“A lot of those who turned out had been affected by the disease or had close family and friends who had been so everyone wanted to help.
“The atmosphere in the room during the races was fantastic too. Everyone was really getting behind their horses and cheering them on.
“We haven’t set a date yet but it’s definitely something we want to do again.”
