A LUCKY student was “over the moon” to find out she will be the belle of the ball when she arrives to her prom in a dress picked by her peers.

Amber Bodle, of Briardale Avenue, Dovercourt, has been given a £400 dress by Nina’s Boutique to wear at her school’s prom this summer.

Nina Carman, who runs the boutique in Gravel Hill Way, Dovercourt, said she offered Harwich and Dovercourt High School the prize as a way of giving something back to them for their great efforts with the local prom in previous years.

She said 15-year-old Amber was “over the moon and very shocked” she was chosen in a draw of students with perfect behaviour to wear the dress.

Nina said: “Harwich and Dovercourt High School lay on a fantastic event every year, which has gone from a school leavers’ party to a real community occasion.

“The school were given the responsibility of choosing who was awarded this prize, it was presented last week and the young lady came in store to collect her prize.”

Paul Day, who runs Harwich and Dovercourt High School’s prom, said: “Nina has been involved with the prom for a number of years now.

“She takes formal and informal photos during the special occasion, but with her new shop has sold many girls their incredible dresses.

“Nina wanted to give something back to the school and the students as she recognises just how important the day is for all involved.

“The large number of students who qualified for the prize draw did so by having perfect behaviour for the half term.

“The draw was made during a Year 7 assembly by Nina with the very grateful and deserving winner Amber Bodle over the moon to hear her name read out.

“It rewards the Year 11 girls with a fantastic prize which means they can choose the dress of their dreams.

“It has motivated many of the students to really focus on their studies and be good role models to the younger students with their behaviour and attitude in school.”
