A MAN has denied importing an obscene sex doll which bears the appearance of a teenage child.

Daniel Adams, 32, allegedly ordered a child-like sex doll from Hong Kong, but the package was intercepted on arrival in the UK.

Officers with the National Crime Agency working at East Midlands Airport alerted Essex Police, and Adams was subsequently arrested.

Adams, of Perry Lane, Langham, appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, charged with improper importation of indecent or obscene articles.

Mo Miah, prosecuting, said: “The doll in question was coming from Hong Kong, bound for an address in Essex.

"It was sent to Daniel Adams.

“Essex Police were notified and the doll was seized.

"The doll is described as being about one metre tall, has the general appearance of an early teenage child.

“The package was shown to have been sent from Hong Kong and was addressed to Mr Adams.

“This is a relatively new offence.

"There is only one other case I know of being sentenced in Kent.”

Adams denied the charge and elected to be tried in front of a jury at crown court. He will next appear before a judge at a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday, October 3.
