A ROAD closed due to a burst water main has been re-opened.
Traffic came to a standstill in Colchester town centre after water began flooding through Osborne Street near the Gala Bingo.
The road was closed off from St John's Street to St Botolph's Street due to the incident causing long tail backs of drivers trying to get into and out of town.
Traffic was reported to be slow on Magdalen Street, Mersea Road and Southway.
The incident has caused disruption to buses as the town's bus station is in Osborne Street. Buses are being diverted to alternative routes.
The incident was cleared up at 2.50pm and the road was re-opened.
