TEENAGERS got to try out the world of work by spending two weeks at Tendring Council.

The five students from Harwich and Dovercourt High School spent time working in sports facilities, the Princes Theatre, seafronts, tourism and events, and engineering services for their Year 10 work experience placements.

It gave them the opportunity to discover what the real workplace is like and the role of the council on a day-to-day basis.

Lynda McWilliams, Tendring Council’s cabinet member for leisure and partnerships, said: “It has been a chance for the teenagers to sample working life at first hand and they have been able to taste what it is like in a wide range of areas that the council is involved with.

“The feedback I have been given from the managers they have worked with is that They have been a credit to their school, their parents and most of all themselves.”

“I hope that they have found it an equally positive experience.”
