A FRUITFUL design has bagged a seven-year-old his first claim to fame.

Bailey Wappler’s healthy eating design branded with the message ‘It’s cool to be healthy’ has been transferred on to thousands of limited edition hessian Tesco bags.

Customers across the region can now own a Bailey Wappler shopping bag, which is available for free at Tesco, in Church Road.

The St Luke’s Primary School pupil has also secured £500 for his school and a £25 Tesco gift card for himself.

Clare Walker, acting head teacher, said: “The school is extremely proud of all our pupils who entered the competition.

“It’s with great delight Bailey has won and the bag is absolutely fantastic. The design is eye-catching and sends out a great message.

"We’re also incredibly grateful to receive a cheque towards our school improvements.”

More than 200 pupils from primary schools across Tiptree took part in the competition which asked children to show what healthy eating means to them.

Bailey’s bag and prize were presented to him by Tesco store manager Jonathan Bale during a school assembly.

Mr Bale said the “bright and colourful” really stood out.
