THE Spice Girls and the cast of the Wizard of Oz were among those present to mark a milestone for Year 13 leavers.

Pupils at Colchester County High School for Girls dressed to impress as they completed their final full day of school before their A-level exams.

The Norman Way pupils also became superheroes, Super Mario and Peter Pan characters, basketball teams, cheerleaders, nuns, crayons, as well as Hawaiian princesses and Grease’s Pink Ladies.

The dress-up day is part of a long-standing tradition at the selective secondary school.

Gillian Marshall, school head, said the students had a fantastic day and she wished them well for their forthcoming exams.

She added: “I am incredibly proud of the students, they have been an outstanding year group and made a huge contribution to the school.

“We wish them every success in the future.”

The school is among the top schools in the country and pupils regularly receive high grades.
