A DRINK driver was spotted travelling along the wrong side of the road and the wrong way round a roundabout while double the alcohol limit.
Marian Peiu, 30, was seen driving a Ford Focus erratically on Maudlyn Road, Colchester, by police officers who pulled him over on nearby Quayside Drive.
Peui was later breathalysed and the lower reading was 87 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
He admitted drink driving and driving without insurance when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Representing himself, he said: "It is my fault and I must take responsibility."
Magistrates disqualified Peui, of Hythe Hill, Colchester, from driving for 20 months for drink driving.
He was fined £230, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85.
There was no separate penalty for driving without insurance.
