A MAN has died after being struck by a train at Chelmsford station.
The British Transport Police confirmed the man died at the scene around at 3.50pm this afternoon.
Officers are working to identify the man and inform his next of kin.
The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We received a call at 3.51pm this afternoon.
"We sent an ambulance crew, two rapid response vehicles and an ambulance officer to the scene."
All lines between Shenfield and Witham were blocked but some lines have now reopened.
Greater Anglia has warned passengers to expect disruption until 8pm.
Londonbound services may be terminating their journeys at Witham or Colchester.
At 5.10pm the line towards Colchester was reopened, but services will continue to be heavily disrupted.
Due to the displacement of trains and crews, some Southend Victoria services may be subject to short notice cancellations this evening.
Ticket acceptance with c2c is in place from Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness.
A limited rail replacement bus service is in place to service the stations from Witham to Shenfield, and Braintree to Witham.
