AN annual toy appeal to provide needy youngsters with Christmas presents has been launched again.

Fenwick have teamed up with The Rotary Club of Colchester for the Play Santa Appeal and are asking for toy donations in the ran up to the festive season.

Shoppers in the department store are being urged to buy one extra Christmas gift and drop it off at the toy department.

Gifts will then be sent on to social services to be distributed to children in the town who are less fortunate than others.

The presents can be for any age ranging from babies up to early teens and can be donated until Friday, December 16.

Hundreds of toys are donated in each edition of the drive, which has now been running for more than 15 years.

Fenwick managing director Carl Milton said: "We are honoured to, once again, be a part of this worthy cause to help make so many children’s Christmas’ special.

"Thank you to everyone who supports this wonderful appeal."

Rotary club past president Ivan Hewitt added: "It is wonderful that the kind people of Colchester start donating toys even before the appeal is announced and we are extremely grateful."
