The owner of a convenience store who wanted to sell alcohol until 10pm has announced he is ditching the plans.
Dee Patel, of Budgens in Connaught Avenue, Frinton, said the late licence was not worth the risk to his staff.
On May 27 the shop's till was snatched by two youngsters during a night of trouble in the town.
Mr Patel said: "I am worried about my staff - it's just too risky and it's a risk I am not prepared to take."
He also announced he would be offering a £1,000 reward to anyone who gave information leading to the arrest and conviction of the culprits or £1,000 to a local charity when the police catch them.
