A prize-winning pooch has walked her way to champion status.

Gianni Princess Sofia, an italian greyhound, won Best Dog in Show overall at the annual Suffolk Show last Thursday.

The much-loved pet of Leon and Angie Steed strutted her stuff round the judges' ring and was picked to win top rosette from Frank Cane, who judges at the international Crufts Show every March.

A tense two days saw Sofia win best any variety not separately classified' and group one (toy category)', at the Suffolk Showground, near Ipswich, which began last Wednesday.

The best in show win is a first for her proud owners who have bred the unusual dogs for 16 years.

Cat-sized Sofia is one of 12 greyhounds at her home in Ramsey, near Dovercourt.

Mrs Steed said: "I would have been more than happy to win the toy group but to get best in show overall was just amazing."
