A TRAIN station worker who helps to brighten the days of commuters has scooped an award.

Alex Stibbs, who works on the gate line at Colchester North station, has won an Institute of Customer Service award after being nominated by passengers.

Abellio Greater Anglia encouraged people to put forward members of staff who go the extra mile during National Customer Service week at the beginning of last month.

Area customer service manager John Mannion said Mr Stibbs had become a familiar face to people using the trains.

He said: “Alex is popular with our customers at Colchester station and I would like to thank him for his great work and rapport with passengers. We would like to thank everyone who got in touch with us to highlight the great work of people on the railway.”
