A RECORD amount of people braved the chilly waters for West Mersea's tenth annual Boxing Day Dip.
A total of 137 dippers took part with some even donning fancy dress.
Another 1,000 people opted to stay dry but spectate at the festive spectacle, organised by the Mersea and District Lifeboat Guild.
Dippers could either be sponsored to take part or were asked to give a £5 donation.
Teas, coffees and mince pies were on sale too.
Money raised will go to the RNLI.
