IT’S the Soundtrack of their Lives - well at least some of it anyway.
Organised as part of this year’s Colchester Film Festival a whole host of local bands, DJs and singer/songwriters will be playing and performing the movie music that means the most to them.
Taking place at the Three Wise Monkeys this Friday, headlining the event will be a very appropriate band, Clacton’s the Lowriders.
That’s because the four-piece group know all about playing film music having released the soundtrack to Colchester film-maker Ronnie Thompson’s movie, I Am Soldier.
Earlier this year the band, made-up of frontman Dave Garlick, Adam Parrott on drums and keyboards, Brian Ware on guitars, and Jason Chamberlain on bass, brought out their long-awaited second album, available now as a digital download at thelowridersmusic.com The Lowriders have been together in their present format since 2008, releasing debut album Fury in 2010.
Between that and the new release, the group produced a stunning EP of songs, which was used on the soundtrack of the film I Am Soldier at the request of fan and writer/director Ronnie Thompson, some of which the band will play on the night.
Among the other acts performing will be Colchester’s Jason Frederick, who has helped written film scores for a number of films, such as 101 Dalmations, Big Mama’s House and 28 Days with Sandra Bullock and Dominic West, and jazz rock band, Turtleneck.
• The Soundtrack of Our Lives is at the Three Wise Monkeys, High Street, Colchester, this Friday, October 23, from 8pm.
Entry is £5 on the door but free to Colchester Film Festival Pass Holders.
