THERE is onlyamonth left to get involved in our campaign to keep a urology cancer surgery in Colchester.

The Gazette launched the Save Our Surgery campaign after new guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence stated there would only be one centre in Essex.

Colchester and Southend’s hospital trusts are expected to apply, and we believe the centre should remain here. So far, the Gazette’s petition has been signed by more than 4,500 people, and this number is growing every day. Editor in chief for north Essex, James Wills, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the reaction to our campaign.

“So many of you have taken the time to send in petition forms and we are extremely grateful.

“We want to hear from everyone so we can make the strongest case possible to keep this vital service in north Essex.”

We need all petition forms back by August 10 and all letters, coupons and petition forms will be presented to Alan Rose, chairman of the Colchester hospitals board.

It will then be included in the trust’s submission to NHS England.

Forms should be sent to Gazette, Unit 1, Brunel Court, Severalls Industrial Estate, Colchester, CO4 9XP.
