AWELL-LOVED volunteer will be remembered by the creation of a memorial garden in the area where she worked.
Thelma Compton, a volunteer for Colchester Borough Homes, died of pneumonia, age.
Colchester Borough Homes’ Make a Difference Day team were at Bensusan, Constable and Craig Court, Shrub End, to enhance the three blocks of flats and create the garden, with a tree planted in her honour.
Director of housing Karen Loweman said: “We are delighted to not only be visiting the area to make a difference, but to recognise a stalwart Colchester Borough Homes volunteer and compassionate woman.
“Thelma gave so much to her community over the years and we are honoured to be recognising this.”
