Up to 60 members of the controversial EDL will arrive in Colchester and plan to lay a wreath at Colchester War Memorial in tribute to murdered soldier Lee Rigby, who was killed by Islamist extremists in May, 2013.

In the immediate aftermath of the murder, the EDL Essex Division clashed with Essex Anti-fascists at the Colchester memorial during a wreath-laying ceremony.

Dozens of police officers were called to the skirmish, which lasted six hours.

Now the EDL plans to return today, two years since the murder, and Essex Anti-fascists are planning a counter demonstration.

Essex Police will have a more visible prescence in the town centre this morning.

The EDL plans to hold a two minute silence and lay a wreath at the Cowdray Crescent memorial at 11am.
