A FIRE destroyed two mobile homes.

Four fire crews were called to Bentley Country Park, Flag Hill, at about 12.30am this morning.

Two static mobile homes were completely destroyed and crews spent two hours tacking the flames.

A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival the incident commander reported both properties were completely alight.

"The fire had spread, through radiated heat, from the mobile it broke out in to the neighbouring property."

Incident commander Mark Wilby said: "Crews arrived to find an already well developed fire which had destroyed one mobile home and spread to the unit next door.

"One home was empty and the occupants had escaped from the second mobile home, although one man suffered burns.

"Crews were hampered by poor water supplies which meant we had to use a nearby lake to establish a water supply."

Police were called to investigate and concluded the fire was accidental.
