NEW volunteers to work in St Helena Hospice shops will be recruited during a week-long drive.

The hospice will have staff and volunteers on hand at all of its 14 shops across north east Essex to answer questions.

Bob Coe, St Helena Hospice music and collectables shop volunteer, said: “I have been volunteering for around five-and-a half years now.

“Volunteering has enabled me to continue to use some of the knowledge and skills I acquired during my working career and after retirement, for the benefit of a charity. I have made new friends who share a common interest.

“I have always been interested in music of all types but volunteering has enabled me to learn more, researching and pricing records for sale and finding the better ones for eBay – it’s rewarding when you find a valuable item.

“The most exciting find has been a rare classical vinyl record I spotted which raised £900 for the hospice on eBay.”

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for St Helena Hospice drop in to one of the shops between Monday April 13 and Saturday, April 18 to find out more, visit the hospice website at sthelenahospice.org.uk or call 01206 890170.
