CONTRACEPTIVE and sexual health services and advice are remaining in Colchester town centre.

Community healthcare provider Anglian Community Enterprise has run these services from Cornerstone in Sir Isaac’s Walk.

Cornerstone closed in January and most health improvement services provided from there moved to Colchester library.

But it has now been confirmed the sexual health services will relocate to the Town House in West Stockwell Street.

To mark the move, staff from ACE’s Frisky and Risky team, which targets the under 25 age group, will be out and about in the town centre tomorrow, handing out information on the services on offer.

Jayne Overett, Sexual Health Lead at ACE, said: “Our service is completely confidential and no appointment is necessary for people calling into the Town House between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. We will be offering advice on sexual health, relationships.

We can also provide, free of charge, C-cards for under 25s, emergency hormone contraception, referrals and pregnancy tests for under 18s, free condoms and free Chlamydia screening for 15 to 24-year-olds.

“Our aim is to make younger people more aware of the consequences of their risk taking behaviour and to encourage them to enjoy themselves responsibly.”
