A CHARITY is desperately appealing for help to find a home for an unwanted dog which could be put down within days if new owners aren't found.

Spirit of the Dog is trying to find a new home for Silver, a female Staffordshire bull terrier, after being warned she only has until Sunday before she is put to sleep.

The two-year-old dog was assessed by a behaviourist as being depressed in kennels at the Danaher Animal Home so has been given a deadline to find new owners.

Jane Nettleton, secretary of the rehoming and rehabilitation charity Spirit of the Dog, based in Beaumont Cum Moze, said Silver is in urgent need.

"Silver has struggled to find a home where she is at the Danaher Animal Home in Wethersfield but is a beautiful girl who loves people," she added.

"She doesn't want to live with other dogs but could be such a great addition to a family."

The charity, which is looking for land to build a rehabilitation centre for dogs across Essex, is looking for a home or a foster carer for Silver.

Anyone who thinks they can help is asked to call 07812 731580 as soon as possible.
