Braintree's MP has spoken of the anguish he has caused himself and his family following the sex scandal that led to the end of his political career.
Brooks Newmark spoke candidly in an exclusive interview with the Times of the "public humiliation" he has suffered and how he is now looking to move on and rebuild his life and his relationship with his family.
He faced two weeks of national media scrutiny, which began when the Sunday Mirror published a story in late September about how he had sent a sexually explicit photo of himself to an undercover reporter pretending to be a female Tory activist.
Mr Newmark, 56, stood down as Minister of Civil Society, a job he was promoted to in the summer.
A week later, the national press published further explicit photos and exchanges between Mr Newmark and a woman whom he had been having a two year affair.
