MORE than £1,500 has been raised for the Colchester Night Shelter by a sponsored sleep-out.
Will Quince, leader of Colchester Council’s Conservative group, was joined by friends Jim Musk, Dan Ellis and Darius Laws sleeping rough in the town’s High Street overnight.
Mr Quince said: “We surpassed our £1,000 target.
“We were quite lucky with the weather as the temperature only dropped to 6C. I’ve done it in much worse than that.”
It is the third time the friends have slept out to raise money for the night shelter, in Alexandra Road. They slept outside Williams & Griffin between 6pm on Friday and 6am on Saturday.
