A FUNDRAISING event collected more than £1,036 for St Helena Hospice, Colchester.

Crystal Threads’s annual event, Cofftea, included coffee and tea stalls, crystal healing, readings by spirit mediums, aromatherapy and reflexology.

It was set up in 2008, by Jan Dehaney and Janet Canter in memory of Nick Spall, who died from cancer aged 26.

He worked for Mrs Dehaney in her Colchester shop before it moved to Colchester Road, in Elmstead Market.

Nick’s dad, Adrian, said: “Nick was determined not only to beat the disease, but to do all he could for the hospice in thanks for the wonderful care he and his family received.”

Each year, Jan and Janet raise money for the hospice which cares for people with life-limiting illnesses.

They presented a cheque to chief executive Mark Jarman- Howe.
