UPDATED: Accident causes traffic chaos
Police are currently at the scene of an accident at the top of Balkerne Hill where it meets Southway.
The incident has led to traffic backing up all the way to the A12 along Westway Cymbeline Way.
The circumstances of the accident are not yet known.
8.11pm: Police have refused to release any details but say the road should re-open shortly.
8.31pm: Road re-open
8.45pm: Police have confirmed a person was hit by a car.
The road has been cleared and police have left the scene.
