A MUM says damaged drains on the A120 send tidal waves of water over her house and create noise throughout the night.

Amanda Garnham complained about the drains earlier this year when they overflowed and water damaged her new extension.

The mum-of-two claims repairs by the Highways Agency and Skanska in September have made the problem worse in Coggeshall Road, Bradwell.

She said: “When it rained the old drains didn’t take away the water and as vehicles passed we would get a tidal wave crashing against the side of the house.

“They were advised by the parish council the new drainage system wouldn’t work but they went ahead and did it anyway.

“The tarmac has broken up and the drains are lifting out of their cases as the lorries are going over them.

“They are clanking very loudly and the whole house just shakes and rumbles as they go over them.

“I have had to go to the doctors to get sleeping tablets as I lie awake all night otherwise.

“It’s unreasonable for my children to be asked to sleep through that noise.

The Highways Agency was unable to provide a response.
