Clacton firefighters will let their facial hair flow for Movember.

The Red Watch fire crew will collect sponsorship for growing their moustaches out during November as part of the international fundraiser.

Their efforts will raise cash and awareness to boost the fight against prostate and testicular cancer.

Crew member John Messent said: “We have done Movember in previous years and it is a good laugh.

“But there is also a serious message and it is for an important cause. It is something we are all passionate about.”

Eight firefighters from the watch are taking part in the fundraising efforts.

John added: “In previous years we have had some guys who haven’t been able to grow a very good tache, but I think they’ve opted out to save themselves the embarrassment this time.

“The rest of us will all put up a decent effort and we’ve all decided on different styles.

“We will probably end up looking ridiculous, like a fire station full of Magnum PIs.”
