COLCHESTER’S Military Wives Choir has been invited to sing at the Houses of Parliament.

Sir Bob Russell, MP for Colchester, invited the group to sing again after a successful performance last year.

The members will also lay a wreath in the garden of remembrance.

Kelly Jackson, member, said: “We were absolutely delighted to have been asked back.

“Sir Bob Russell has been such a big supporter of ours, the fact that he has organised this for us again this year is very flattering.

“This time of year is such a poignant time of year for military families, many serving men and women have just returned from ops, and some have just left to complete their deployment.

“Also it is the time of year where we give thanks and remember all those men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

“So for us to have the opportunity to go to Westminster and lay a wreath in the garden of remembrance is something we jumped at.”

The performance takes place in the Atrium at Portcullis house from 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 6.

Anybody can watch as long as they have photo ID.
