A HISTORIC restaurant plagued by problems has finally opened...with one last-minute hitch.
The Stockwell, in West Stockwell Street, Colchester, was first due to open in October after a three year refurbishment.
Building problems saw the date pushed back several times to this week.
But an underfloor heating pipe burst at the eleventh hour, putting the restaurant under four inches of water.
Owner Robert Morgan said staff worked until 3am Thursday to open at midday.
