A GOVERNMENT minister visited a Colchester school to help its new facilities.
Education minister David Laws helped cut the ribbon on three new classroom blocks at North Primary School, in John Harper Street.
He joined Kay Twitchen, chairman of Essex County Council, and Colchester mayor Christopher Arnold in unveiling the new buildings, and an all-weather Astroturf sports pitch which replaces the school field.
The town’s MP Sir Bob Russell was also at the event, as his four children attended the school, his wife Audrey was a governor and dinnerlady for 30 years, and their granddaughter is now at the nursery.
