A TEENAGER has appeared at court charged with murder.
Andre Vella, 19, who gave his address as Village Close, Kirby Cross, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court earlier today.
He gave his name, address and date of birth and was then remanded into custody to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court tomorrow.
No plea was entered and no bail requested.
Vella has been charged with the murder of 26-year-old Thomas Brittain.
Mr Brittain was stabbed to death inside a flat in Charles House, Parkside Quarter, Colchester in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Vella was arrested on Monday after handing himself in at Clacton police station.
Police are still searching for 18-year-old Jack Hummerstone, from Clerkenwell, London, who is wanted on suspicion of murder.
