FAMILIES have been playing their part in creating a growing garden at a Colchester primary school.
Green-fingered pupils at Roach Vale Primary School worked with their parents as part of a ‘garden force’ day to create the growing area.
Over the next few weeks, it will be used to grow peas, beans and soft fruits.
Marian Dutton, a teaching assistant at the school, who runs a gardening club every Monday, said:
“It was a great day for the kids and their parents.
“I was overwhelmed by the response we had and at the amount of work everyone got through.”
Some 16 parents helped out on Saturday between 10am and 2pm.
