MOTORISTS face more traffic chaos due to gas works on a busy Colchester road.

One lane will be closed on Balkerne Hill northbound for two weeks while National Grid carry out pipe replacement works.

Traders on Crouch Street have expressed concern on the knock-on affect for them, while also pointing to the potential for delays during the twice-daily rush hour.

The lane closure, close to the junction with the west end of Crouch Street, will be in place for two weeks from February 25 meaning the disruption ends one week before the trial High Street car ban begins.
