BIKERS are hoping to raise record funds for a military charity this year.
Terry Youngs, who chairs the East Anglian D-Day Memorial Ride committee, is also appealing for new standard-bearers and members of the public to come forward to take part in this year’s ride, on June 8.
Every year, hundreds of bikers gather at Merville Barracks, in Colchester, before setting off for Whitehouse Farm, in Rettendon, where a memorial service is held.
Every biker is sponsored to do the ride, with proceeds going to the Army Benevolent Fund.
“We want to make this a really big year and raise a record amount,” said Mr Youngs.
“I just hope more people come out to support us.”
