A HISTORIC water fountain is being returned to Castle Park following restoration.
The Catchpool Fountain was removed from Castle Park in the 1990s after falling into disrepair, but has now been returned to its home behind the cafe after Colchester Council repaired it.
It was originally installed in 1930 following a donation of £10 from Miss Catchpool. The Catchpool family had a history of donating to the park and Quaker businessman Richard Catchpool left a large legacy for the park when it opened in 1892.
The fountain will be unveiled by the Mayor of Colchester at the same time as the burial of Colchester’s Olympic Torch Relay Time Capsule on Friday at 10am.
