THE owner of a beauty salon says its success shows it is never to late to pursue your dreams.
Simran Babbar owns Simple Beauty Lashes Salon on Colchster's Short Wyre Street.
The mum-of-two moved to Colchester nine years ago from London for her husband’s work.
At the time, she wasn’t even a trained beautician and knew no one in the area.
But today, she runs an award-winning salon and beauty academy, a success story that has been years in the making.
“When I first moved, I had two little girls, six and two at the time,” said Babbar, now the proud mother of teenagers.
She started small, offering threading treatments from home, promoting her services through Facebook.
Her home business grew quickly, eventually leading her to rent a small room at Salon Central, where she offered waxing and eyelash treatments.
However, it was her vision to create something more visible that led her to open Simple Beauty Lashes in 2017.
Now, her salon offers a wide range of services, from threading and waxing to lash lifts, spray tans and semi-permanent make-up.
Babbar prides herself on providing an excellent service at a fair price.
“I always think about how much I’d be willing to pay for a service,” she said.
“We’re not very cheap, but we’re not expensive either. It’s a good, fair price.”
Her journey doesn’t stop at running a successful salon.
After completing teaching training last year, Babbar launched her beauty academy, offering courses in the treatments she has mastered.
She welcomes students of all ages and backgrounds, ensuring that language barriers aren’t an obstacle.
With plans to expand into London, Babbar’s success continues to grow.
But her heart remains in Colchester, where her journey began.
Her message is clear - it’s never too late to pursue your passion, and success is within reach for those who work for it."
She said: “If you’re good at your work, nothing else matters.”
