COMEDY magic man Pete Firman is making a welcome return to the Colchester Arts Centre.

Firmly established in the mainstream, he was a star of the BBC One hit, the Magicians, as well as BBC Two’s Culture Show, ITV 1’s Saturday Live Again! with Ben Elton and helping Justin Lee Collins become a conjurer on Channel 4’s the Convention Crasher.

Pete’s new show, Hoodwinker, was previewed at the Church Street venue before it went to Edinburgh last year, but is now back in its finished, pristine format in a national tour.

He says: “It’s always been about the magic. The comedy has just been a bonus. My Edinburgh shows are not for the kids, as they’re a little naughty. Not because I try to be edgy and naughty, that’s just the way I am.”

Starting off on the comedy circuit, Pete was spotted, appearing as cheeky northerner Tufty, in Channel 5 hit, Monkey Magic.

Since then, he has travelled the world, performing anarchic routines in Sky 1’s the Secret World of Magic, and amazing viewers with his tricks with animals, cigarettes and spiky things in Channel 4’s Dirty Tricks.
