Deal Or No Deal host Noel Edmonds will face a surprise twist to celebrate the show’s 10 year anniversary – when the tables turn, giving him a chance to do battle with the Banker.
The host will become the contestant in a special show on September 18, when comedian Sarah Millican sneaks in from the wings to surprise him with a “gotcha!” – and announce she’ll be guest hosting the episode.
Noel then takes his place in the Crazy Chair to play for a potential jackpot of £500,000 for his chosen charity, Children’s Hospice South West.
The game show host said: “To be given the chance to play the game I am so very proud to host was a great honour and one of the biggest shocks of my professional life. I hate the Banker even more now!”
Sarah, who took part in Deal Or No Deal in 2012, added: “I was thrilled to be asked to guest host Deal Or No Deal on such a momentous occasion.
“Stepping in to the shoes of a TV legend like Noel Edmonds was a bit daunting, but really I was just happy it wasn’t me playing the game again – I don’t think my stress levels (and IBS) could take another go.”
“Noel was speechless when he realised he’d been pranked by the one true talent of the show, yours truly,” the Banker revealed, joking: “Where have the years gone?… I would say it’s been a pleasure, but it hasn’t.’
Returning to the Dream Factory to help open the 22 red boxes will be some of Deal Or No Deal’s most memorable and colourful contestants from the show’s first decade, including the first person to win a penny.
The 10th anniversary show will air on September 18 on Channel 4.
