Fashion royalty walked the red carpet at London’s Victoria and Albert museum at a gala ball to celebrate the work of the late Alexander McQueen.
The eccentric and lavish designer tragically committed suicide in 2010 aged just 40, but his work lives on in his opulent and extravagant designs. The museum is hosting exhibition Savage Beauty, charting McQueen’s work from outstanding university graduate to world famous couture fashion house director.
Supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, who were friends with the late designer, lead the pack of fashionistas, while Victoria Beckham attended with husband David.
Erin O’Connor, Eva Herzigova and Poppy Delevingne were also among those in attendance, along with FKA Twigs and Game Of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie.
The exhibition – which was previously on display at The Met in New York – is expected to be the most popular exhibition in the museum’s 160 year history. More than 70,000 tickets have already been sold, ahead of the public opening.
The show – which features over 240 pieces by McQueen – runs until August 2.
