ONE of Southend's most lauded reggae DJs - Sean Originalites Moriarty - will be joining the renowned Black Cat DJs in a Studio 45 special this Saturday, May 28.

The Studio 45 night - a soul, reggae and rhythm and blues event run by DJ and producer Dean Thatcher (Studio 45, Hot Source and Diggin’ Deep) - has been handed over to the Black Cat outfit because Thatcher will be in Ibiza.

The Black Cat crew who regularly play in London and around the UK are made up of well-known Southend exports and vinyl collectors Dean Chalkley, Si Cheeba and Scully with DJs Elliot Gale from Surrey and Neil Barker from Kent.

On the night, Sean will be joining Dean, Elliot and Neil.

Dean said: "We have invited Sean to play for this event. Sean really is a heavy weight with reggae and ska, but also at the same time plays a lot of soul stuff so I'm sure he will branch out in all sorts of interesting different directions on the night.

"The good thing about Studio 45 is that it is broad and does branch out into soul and even disco - it's not restrictive and depends on the crowd where we take it."

The Black Cat DJs are also booked to play at Village Green this year.

Studio 45 is at The Social, Little Portland Street, London.

The night starts at 7pm until 1am. Admission is free.
