THE so-called founder of nu-classic British soul, Omar brings his vocal talents back to the Jazz Mix evening alongside the hard-swinging Quentin Collins/Brandon Allen Quartet.

It takes place at the Maritime Room at the Cliffs Pavilion on Thursday, October 30.

Mick Crook from the Jazz Mix, says: “The collaboration between Omar and the dynamic QCBA Quartet has included performances throughout Europe and sell-out shows at the group’s two main residencies, the Last Days of Decadence and the Hideaway.”

Omar grew up in Canterbury, Kent. He learned his craft classically, playing the trumpet, piano and percussion. After studying at the Identity Drama School, on June 11, 2009, Omar made his acting debut in Ché Walker’s musical, Been So Long.

The Quentin Collins/Brandon Allen Quartet completed a 34-date national and European tour in 2012 to promote their debut album What’s It Gonna Be?

The group have featured on Jazz Lineup for BBC Radio as part of the Scarborough Jazz Festival. The quartet have collaborated with other artists including Paloma Faith, Liane Carroll, Antonio Forcione, James Torme, Gwyneth Herbert, Soweto Kinch and most recently with bassist Kyle Eastwood.

Mick added: “On the Jazz Mix night, Omar and the band will be featuring material from his new CD The Man, plus other classic tunes from his repertoire.”

Omar is joined by the QCBA Quartet featuring Quentin Collins on trumpet, Brandon Allen on saxes/flute, Ross Stanley on organ and Enzo Zirelli on drums.
