GRAMMY nominated arrang-er and producer Dave Cooke is taking the success of his Leigh choir – the Cockleshell Chorus – and starting up another one in Thundersley.

Do you want to be in it?All you need to do is turn up for the first get-together.

Dave has performed all over the world and in venues such as Carnegie Hall, in New York, but decided to go down the amateur choir route as a way to be creative at home.

He says: “I do love touring, but I’m getting on in years so wanted to work on some projects at home.

“I’ve spent a lot of time over the past few decades arranging vocal harmonies for all kinds of artists. It was my partner Heather Simmons who suggested I start a choir.”

The Cockleshell Chorus has been going for a couple of years and meets every Tuesday at Leigh Community Centre. The new Thundersley venture is to be called the Shipwrights Chorus.

Rehearsals begin on Thursday, May 29, in Swans Green Hall, Hart Road, Thundersley. They will continue every Thursday from 8pm.

The first rehearsal is free and after that is £7.50 on the night.
