Record Store Day is an annual event (created in 2007) where over 260 independent record stores in just the Uk alone come together to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store".Hundreds of exclusive vinyl releases are specially made for Record Store Day from a unique range of artists and thousands more shops celebrate across the globe with stores participating on every continent except Antartica!

This years Record Store Day took place on the 23rd of April and artists such as Sam Fender, Blur, Stevie Nicks, Rex Orange County and Taylor Swift who was also chosen as this years annual ambassador. She was the first ever global ambassador in celebration of the 15 year anniversary and said she is "...glad we get to celebrate these sacred and important places now more than ever."

Hundreds camp outside the record store's from early hours of the morning before opening hours in hopes of getting their hands on some of the many exclusive records being released for the day as they are extremely limited!

A variety of sources have named some of the most coveted vinyl this year and some of the most featured records were:

-Rick Astley, Whenever You Need Somebody: 35th Anniversary Edition

-Blur, Bustin' + Dronin'

-Blondie, Sunday Girl

-Joni Mitchell, Blue Highlights

-Stevie Nicks, Bella Donna

And they are only a few of the amazing records released for the day this year.

This year also saw the chance to win an exclusive Rega RSD turntable signed by the wonderfully talented Sam Fender who had his own release this year: a white 7" single of two of his brilliant tracks Alright and The Kitchen.

I hope everyone had an amazing record store day and if you weren't able to buy some of the records then the releases are now available to buy online!
