WIVENHOE Tennis Club's Men's A team are in the running for promotion to the Stringers World Colchester and District League premier division.

They defeated the Officers Club 5½-3 ½, with inclement weather preventing a successful conclusion of the third round.

The win leaves them in second place in division one with a game in hand and then an important match against the leaders, Lexden Rackets, who they have already beaten once this season.

Wivenhoe's Men's B team continue to perform very well in division three and top the division, with one match still to play.

They were victorious in both of their matches against Spring Lane C, winning 6-3 at home and 7-2 away.

Two of the club's juniors, Sam Dewey and Jasper van der Wolf-Ong, won all their three matches.

Wivenhoe's Men's C team have finished their season, finishing a respectable second in division five.

Wivenhoe Ladies are also having a good season and a 7½-1½ win against Lexden Rackets leaves them at the top of a very tight division three.

Wivenhoe's Ladies are hoping results go their way and that they achieve promotion.

The club are able to make use of a very good squad of junior players, as demonstrated in the men's B team.

Team captain Len Jarman said: "These lads now play regularly against experienced opposition and generally are showing a capability to perform well.

"Where appropriate, Wivenhoe Juniors will continue to be given opportunity to play matches representing their club."
