LEXDEN Rackets and Fitness Club A have moved to the top of Stringers World Colchester and District Tennis League division one.

Their convincing 7-2 victories against both Lexden Hill A and Colchester Officers' Club B have taken them to the summit of the division.

In division two, Frinton B can thank Greg Curtis and David Wint who were unbeaten and helped their team to a 5-4 win against Dedham B.

In the same division, Kirby A strengthened their position at the top following a strong 9-0 defeat of Little Clacton.

Lexden R & F Club B seem to be running away with division four and have not dropped a single set in three matches.

Colchester Officers' Club A dropped two vital points when they were late with a player registration.

However, they still managed a 5-4 victory against Mixed Division One promotion rivals Lexden R & F Club A.

Also in the hunt for promotion are Kirby A, who defeated Wivenhoe A 6-3.

Bottom club Spring Lane A showed how tight division two is when they beat league leaders, Frinton B, 5-4.

Bunny Besley and Hame Turpin were in fine form for Spring Lane, winning all their sets.

Another close match in this division saw Dedham B defeat The Essex C, 5-4.

That was in spite of the efforts of Steven Baines and Fiona Crace, who won three sets for The Essex.

An excellent 6-3 victory for Spring Lane B against Kirby B consolidated their position at the top of division three.
