Ali Carter is through to the second round of snooker's Royal London Watches Grand Prix, after edging through 5-4 against Stoke's Dave Harold.
Colchester-born Carter, who grew up in Tiptree, now faces John Parrott in his next match in Glasgow.
It will take place tomorrow evening and, again, be the best of nine frames.
